ARL Masters Carnival 2008 "Brothers Old Boys Excel!
![]() |
A team of former players and supporters entered in the 2008 ARL Masters held at Runaway Bay from 12th to the 15th March. With a minimum age of 35 and the oldest player at 53 there was a wealth of experience and a surplus of muscle fatigue. It was a great event and all team members are looking forward to 2009, hopefully all will have recovered.
One of our players, Paul Neale, summarised his experiences form the tour “I would like to thank you all for making me feel so welcome as a new boy on the block for Brothers Ipswich, it was an absolute pleasure touring with you all. Even though sadly I didn’t reach the skill levels I once possessed in my younger days, I truly felt like I had won a premiership after each game by just making it thru the game fairly unscathed and to be on the same paddock as all of you blokes was awesome, you’s are all deadset legends! I was lucky to be part of a great family at Brothers Brisbane in the mid eighties thru to the early nineties winning many lower grade premierships and being part of the squad that won the last ever Brisbane A grade grand final pre Broncos days in 1987 and I truly never thought I would see the great love and respect that we had for each other back then, and still have to this day. But I picked up very early on in the tour, that you blokes have the same family bond and respect for each other at Brothers Ipswich. If its ok I would like to be part of any games, tours, and get togethers you may have in the future, as I truly will treat every last one of you as life long friends from this time on.”
